Coconut oil uses are many and can help you improve your health & home! Coconut or copra oil, is a rich, edible oil extracted from the kernel of mature coconuts harvested from the tropical palm. It has various uses that make it a versatile addition to your home.

Here we have tried and tested 5 Uses, which do not involve Cooking or Eating!

Improve Dental Health

Coconut oil can be an effective weapon against bacteria and helps you avoid using chemical mouthwashes. Swishing oil for ten minutes (known as the ancient method of Oil Pulling) reduces the bacteria as effectively as rinsing with an antiseptic mouth wash and its daily use could significantly reduce inflammation and plaque.

Polish Wooden Furniture

Just a few drops of coconut oil on an old coffee table or other furniture can replenish shine. Rub in the oil with a soft cloth, and polish in the direction of the grain. The more you polish, the greater the effect.

Insect Repellent

Make your own non-toxic insect repellent using a combination of essential oils such as lemon grass, citronella, lavender etc, combined with coconut oil. These applied on skin can keep mosquitoes away as effectively as chemical repellants.

Remove Stains

Coconut oil & baking powder can be used to get rid of many types of stains, including spills on carpets and furniture. Combine one part coconut oil with one part baking soda and mix into a paste.  Apply the paste to the stain and wait 5 minutes, and then wipe away.

Moisturize your Skin

Besides your hair, your skin can also benefit from applying coconut oil. Any dry patches on your arms, legs and elbows will disappear if you moisturize with this rich oil. You can apply it to your face as well but use it sparingly and remember it isn’t recommended for very oily or blemish-prone skin.
